This week, year 1 children have had fun measuring in Maths. We have been measuring using both non-standard units, such as cubes, paper clips and body parts and have begun to use a ruler. The children have been using the words ‘taller’ and ‘shorter’ for height and ‘longer’ and ‘shorter’ for length. They have loved the very hands-on, practical lessons and are developing their skills of accuracy. This is something they can continue to learn at home. As always we appreciate all of the work you do with your children.
In Science, we are finishing our topic of materials and finding out about bendy and brittle objects. The children described properties of objects and sorted statements according to if they were true or false.
