From Pup to Shark
This week in Reception the children have been learning about the life cycle of a shark. First they explored the features of non-fiction books and learnt how to use the contents page to find out more about sharks. They also compared and sorted non-fiction and fiction books which they managed to do extremely well as an independent task. The children were surprised to find out that it only takes 6 to 8 years for a baby shark to grow into an adult shark. Furthermore they looked at books and videos about different types of sharks. The Hammerhead shark seemed to be most children’s favourite shark. They also labelled a diagram of a shark and added captions to explain more about the labels. All of the children enjoyed doing different activities around sharks and other ocean creatures.
