This week in reception, we have been looking at the topic of life cycles and in particular the life cycle of a butterfly. We have enjoyed listening and writing our focus story, 'The Crunching Munching Caterpillar' and creating actions to help us retell the story.
As well as this, our role play has been transformed in to a garden centre, where we have had fun acting as the customers and shopkeepers using the tills and money. As well as enhancing language skills, this enables the children to act experiences out with their peers and relate to their own experiences.
The children have had great fun in the messy tray too, using the soil, beans and plant pots to plant seeds and use their knowledge and vocabulary to explain how the plants will grow.
