This week we were learning all about planting and growing. The children were very enthusiastic about gardening. They learned about what plants need to grow and applied their knowledge when working in our garden. The children took responsibility for removing all of the weeds from the planters and treated their job very seriously. They dug vigorously, planted seeds and watered soil generously.
Over the last few weeks Nursery children have enjoyed going on a trip to visit the local library. At the library they met the Librarian who spoke about being in a library, what libraries are for and the different types of books that can be borrowed. The children had the opportunity to explore the children's section and to share books with their friends and teachers. At the end of our visit, we were treated to a 'Music time’ and returned back to school just in time to share our exciting day news with parents.
This week our Nursery parents with EAL children enjoyed a specialised workshop showing effective ways of teaching English at home. Led by our teachers, parents were shown ways that can be used to improve their children’s language skill — all through simple but fun techniques. We will have more opportunities for parents to join workshops in the future, and information will be sent out as soon as dates are confirmed.
