During this week, the Reception children have continued to learn more about space, focusing more on the Solar System.
I was impressed with the amount of planet names that the children already knew and they really enjoyed learning songs and hearing stories to help them remember more facts and information.
They focused on writing sentences about the planets and were able to tell me that we need to remember a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop in our writing.
In maths, they continued to count forwards to 20. They also counted backwards. They are all making great progress with their number recognition.
The children enjoyed creating aliens from space and used their cutting skills to create their own rocket collage, using shapes too.
Next week, we will begin learning one of my all-time favourite traditional tales – The Gingerbread Man.
