This week in Reception the children continued to enjoy engaging in our focus story, Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne. They used character stick puppets, masks and story stones to retell the story to their friends and teachers.
In Literacy the children understood that a story has a beginning, middle and end and added their ideas and voices to write our own version of the story.
In Numeracy they were learning to count on from ten to numbers beyond 20. To support their counting the children used their fingers, tens frames, Numicon, Unifix cubes and a variety of other interesting resources to show how a specific numbers can be shown in lots of different ways.
The children clearly had lots of fun and did some sensational learning. This was evident in the amazing work they have produced throughout the week.
