We have been celebrating the children’s return to school and their classrooms. We are so pleased to see their smiling faces and hear their excited voices. The children have welcomed the chance to share their ideas with their peers.
This week, the Year 1 children have been consolidating the skills learned during R-time lessons, where they work collaboratively using good manners, showing respect to others and sharing.
We are currently reviewing the RWI programme Set 3 sounds and we have enjoyed the reading and extended writing activities. Even though the children have gone through these sounds once, they need to have a good knowledge and speedy recall of these sounds. Every day they are learning new words with these sounds to expand their vocabulary.
In Maths lessons this week, while continuing to focus on numbers to 40, we have started using the strategies we have learned, to solve addition and subtraction word problems. The teachers are so proud of the children, that they are so quick at learning new concepts. Great effort, children!
The teachers continue to be amazed at the resilience of our students and their enthusiasm toward their own learning. Keep it up Year 1.
